Gear boxes

Design/Project Engineering & Execution Phase

  1. Technical feasibility study, bid review, selection, specifications.
  2. Gear design appraisals (as per AGMA, API).
  3. Rotordynamics design appraisals (lateral, torsional).
  4. Review of hardware design & construction drawings with OEM engineers/experts.
  5. Model testing/Campbell diagram of single stage large speed ratio (> 8.0) bull-wheel.
  6. Gear box assembly inspection and shop testing.
  7. Installation & commissioning matters and performance examination during warrantee period.

Operational Phase

  1. Reliability & Mission time (extension studies).
  2. Performance gap/stretch studies.
  3. Gear malfunctions diagnosis and cure (tooth meshing, back-lash, vibration, noise, resonance, lube oil, thermal signature, mechanical performance).
  4. Best practices of gearbox condition monitoring, operation and maintenance.
  5. Condition-based inspection & maintenance schemes and decisions.
  6. Pro-active performance appraisals of key parameters during steady state/transient modes.
  7. On/off-lines condition monitoring schemes and performance package development (running power & efficiency estimation).
  8. Root cause investigation of distressed components, failure and restoration (tooth, shaft, bearings, seals, casing distortion, foundation).
  9. Gear/pinion shafts balancing (low speed).
  10. Review/improvement of gearbox supervisory instrumentation.
  11. Alignment (hot/cold).
  12. Life cycle cost & remaining life assessment.
